Staff - The heart of the mission
FWA Staff are the foundation of the organization's success, representing the essential contributing members that carry out the mission every single day.
Executes Essential Functions: Applies their specific skills and experience to perform the core, day-to-day tasks of the organization with precision and reliability.
Upholds a Commitment to the Mission: Possesses a genuine connection to the organization's purpose, reflected in their work ethic and dedication.
Manages Responsibilities with Professionalism: Is adept at managing individual workloads, meeting deadlines, and contributing to a respectful workplace.
Contributes to a Collaborative Environment: Is an effective team player who collaborates with colleagues to achieve shared goals.
Requirements
Commitment as a Dedicated Volunteer: As a Dedicated Volunteer, reliability and consistent engagement are paramount. This involves proactive communication, sustained involvement, and adherence to scheduled commitments. Successful candidates are expected to contribute a minimum of 100 pre-convention hours, 24 hours during the event, or a proportional combination thereof.
Passion for the Mission: Possess a genuine passion for the organization's mission and values.
Commitment to Hospitality: Demonstrate a strong commitment to providing exceptional hospitality, ensuring a welcoming and helpful environment for all community members.
Departmental Proficiency: Possess demonstrated education, knowledge, and/or practical experience relevant to the assigned department.
Year-Round Expectations
Commitment: Varies based on organizational and event cycles, as agreed upon with your Lead.
Meeting Participation & Accountability: Active participation in all scheduled internal organizational meetings is required. Timely notification for any absences is expected. Regardless of attendance, it is essential to review meeting summaries and ensure the completion of all assigned action items to maintain operational continuity.
Assignment-Specific Responsibilities:
Fulfill all duties and responsibilities as directed by your assigned Lead.
Event Expectations
Commitment: 6-8 hours per day during the event. (Thurs - Sun)
Event Presence & Information Dissemination: While moving between event spaces, Staff are expected to actively assist members with inquiries. When in uniform, you help reflect our commitment to good service by sharing accurate information or connecting people with the right resources.
Schedule Submission: Submit all schedule requests to your respective Leads. Department staff schedules will be finalized six weeks prior to the event and distributed four weeks before the event date.
Eligibility
Age: Individuals must be 18 years of age or older.
Conflict of Interest:
Furry Weekend Atlanta upholds the highest ethical standards and does not give preferential treatment to staff who also participate as panelists, artists, vendors, or other convention services. All such staff must have an approved Related Party Conflict of Interest form to provide personal services at the convention.
Staff must disclose any leadership positions with any other community based community based organizations that produce annual conventions.
Application Process: Applicants are required to pass an Interview with either one of the following:
Lead
Assistant Lead
Director
Background Check: Staff are only required to successfully complete a background for assignments that have additional requirements set by the Furry Weekend Atlanta, Inc. Board of Directors.
If required, successful completion of a background check is necessary to protect the safety of individuals, safeguard organizational assets, and uphold the integrity and reputation of the organization as a tax-exempt charitable entity.
Agreements: Applicants must complete and sign the following agreements
FWA Volunteer Agreement
FWA Dedicated Volunteer Policies Agreement
FWA Confidentiality Agreement
Staff Membership: A dedicated volunteer must be in good standing and have active communication with their lead in Q4 to receive their Staff Pass to the convention.
Staff Room Block
Priority of hotel choice is determined by tenure, department location, and other factors.
Inactivity: Staff who are unreachable or unresponsive for 6 months will have their FWA accounts suspended and will have their volunteer status changed to “inactive”
