FWA Staff Accounts Guide

Hello FWA Staff! We are very excited to prep everyone for our next major deployment! Although most of us are used to having Google access in our personal lives, adding these accounts will make a huge difference in our ability to communicate and share resources with the entire organization. And this is just the first step of many planned to help provide everyone with the tools you need to succeed.

In order to streamline our communication, the following Account ID requirements have been created. Please follow the guide and use this table as a reference in how all of your accounts should be set up.

Google requires a first and last name to create your account, as an organization we are choosing to use our fursona names. If your fursona does not have a last name or visible space between words, you will be assigned FWA as your last name. If you used your personal name to create your account, your account info will be changed to match the new requirements.

You will not be able to edit your name yourself, however if a change needs to be made submit a ticket through the staff help portal and we will update your account as soon as we can.

If your name on the staff list does not have visible spaces, your [Fursona First Name] is the entire name. (example: Name: FennictheFox, Email: fennicthefox@furryweekend.com, Discord: FennictheFox)

Required Steps

  1. Log into myFWA

    1. Verify that your information is current or update any outdated information.

    2. If you do not have an emergency contact listed, add one. This is not optional for staff.

    3. Verify that you have a staff pass attached to your account under the Purchases tab.

  2. If you do not have a Google Account (@furryweekend.com email)

    1. Activate your Google Account between 11/30/24 at 2:00PM and 12/1/24 at 2:00 PM (48 hours)

      1. You will receive an email to the personal email we have on file with the subject line “You have a new Google Account for furryweekend.com” from gadmin@furryweekend.com.

      2. Follow the instructions in the email to create your password (using a password manager) and enable 2FA using your phone number, authenticator app, or security keys.

        1. We require all Google Accounts to have 2FA enabled. You will have 2 weeks to set it up. We highly suggest you enable during creation so you do not risk getting locked out of your account.

        2. We highly suggest you use a password manager such as Bitwarden to create and store your passwords.

  3. If you have an existing Google Account or a new account

    1. [Required] Review the FWA Google Workspace Account Setup 2024 guide to verify that your account is set up correctly

  4. [Required] Add the FWA Staff Calendar to your Google Account

  5. [Required] Change your Discord Server Nickname to match your Google Account. Reference the chart above if necessary

To protect yourself from social engineering and online phishing, always verify the identity of anyone requesting personal information before sharing any details. Additionally, be cautious of unsolicited messages and links, as they may lead to malicious sites designed to steal your information.

FWA will never ask you for personal information such as your passwords, personal information, and/or a 2FA code. Please be cautious if you are asked for any personal information online or in person.

If you are locked out of your account, our IT Department follows strict protocols to verify your identity before offering assistance.

If you require any IT assistance, please create a ticket at http://help.furryweekend.com and the IT Department will assist you as soon as they can. Please remember that we are all volunteers and they may not be able to answer back immediately.

Optional Steps

  1. Install Google Chrome and create a separate profile for your FWA account

    1. Log into your Google Account to create a new profile

    2. A series of bookmarks will be preloaded into a folder on your bookmarks bar that includes helpful links to portals, websites, and software.

  2. [Recommended] Add your Google Account to your mobile device.

    1. Email push notifications are highly recommended to keep
